Help me, Help you...

So, this morning as my mom drops off grandmom she started reading the weather channel details as my husband and Alyssa were checking out today's forecast. She just keeps reading every little detail over and over until he finally changes the channel. It reminded my mom of every car ride over here...Grandmom likes to read all the big trucks, the road signs, restaurant signs, any sign you can think of...she reads. Which also brings up the issue of when we are sitting watching the news or the Today show and she reads the ticker at the bottom. She will read it aloud the entire morning...repeating each and every word as long as she can keep up. Oh, and the paper or the morning crossword! So, it makes me wonder...is she doing it for herself or for us? According to an article from alzinfo.org, reading improves the quality of life for people with Alzheimer's. "Reading, especially reading aloud, benefits patients by keeping them involved in stimulating activities that may be helpful in maintaining cognitive abilities, and it allows social interaction," says Marwan Sabbagh, M.D., F.A.A.N., and author of The Alzheimer's Answer. So, that answers my question perfectly...She is doing it for herself but also to interact with us. It's going to benefit us in the long run anyways, I mean who really needs to stare at the t.v. all day? Full Article/Website:
